Singkawang to Pontianak - 4 hours scenic drive

Singkawang to Pontianak. we were taken to savour the best "kor lor mee " in Singkawang. It was excellent and we would have tucked in much more . The final photo taken on Singkawang street will surely be an important memo when I review this trip in my twilight years.

Pic above with Ah Lang and Ah keong was taken just before we left Singkawang. The next 3 hour drive is expected to be scenic having to pass thru Membawah, Sg Pinyen and into the center of EQUATOR at the fringe of Pontianak

Pictures below shows the kampong boys clearing a coconut patch - what seems to be a hands on in trying to create a sepak takraw court. Tucking a whole bunch of Rambutans along the coastal road , we saw planting of mangroves - perhaps to slow down hugh waves that is eroding some part of the shorelines. Our rambutan treat was shared with many many mud skippers along this mangrove area

Picture below shows us passing Sg Pinyan and me concentrating on my refreshment

After a short break at the coastal plain with fresh coconuts, we pass thru SungaiPinyan, the checkpoint that we missed when we were going from Entikong to Singkawang. This river runs parallel along the road leading into the fringe of Pontianak and the scene was somewhat captivating. Villages were washing their clothes and themselves by the side of the road, visible to all passing traffic.T his is clear sign of a poor village .

After a scenic 4 hour drive along the coastal plain, we finally arrive at the signature bridge of Pontianak across Sg Sekakap which span some 600m. The quiet environment soon changed drastically with heavy traffic around us and motorcyclists weaving in between traffic. As it getting dark, we decided to checked into Grand Mahkota, a 4star hotel at RP335,000/night with breadfast for two
