Entikong gateway to Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia

From KUCHING to ENTIKONG to SINGKAWANG
From Kuching, we took 2 hours passing thru Serian and Teledu before we finally reach Entikong. The drive was interesting and easy although we were going thru mountainous terrain with the cloud appearing nearer and nearer.
After passing thru the friendly Sarawak's immigration point, Entikong entrance was somewhat captivating - Bold signboard and a touch of Indonesian architecture. With assistance from the Police, Immigration and Custom officers, we managed to settle administratively for endorsement for our car to enter Indonesia. The IMM ( Idonesian Motor Transport Assc )surprised us with their support ,as a despatched letter
indicating our intended visit was already there when we checked in, thus making the clearance process that much easier.
A travel insurance agent was also at hand to help us to buy a proper comprehensive insurance for 550,000RP to last us for 2 months.
After posing for photo shoot with the respective officers, we were then off to begin our autoventure into Kalimantan.

Conclusively, after just 1.5 hrs, our administration for endorsement to enter Indonesia, via Entikong, was all smile . We got the nec stamps, road tax and comprehensive insurance done on the spot. Point to Register : The Customs, Immigration and Police officers of Indonesia were extremely helpful. Neo Chian finally posed for a historic memorable photo shot, as his Singapore registered car SJG 7792 X was apparently the 1st Singapore car to enter Entikong on 31 Oct 2009.

On the way, as expected our gruelling autoventure bring us thru very trying road conditions , narrow and with lots of potholes especially thru kampongs of the Ibans and Dayak tribes.
We have to be extremely alert as family of pigs are seen free ranging along the roads and tracks. Along the way this church ( pic above ) do have some of their cultural layout. When we finally reached our destination, the smell of Durians was too captivating---SO ! At 25,000 RP per fruit, we tasted it and shared with the children around us. It was not long before my relatives Ah Keong and Ah Lang came to meet us and checked us into Mahkota Hotel, a pleasant 4 stars hotel at Rp 350,000 / night with breakfast included.
Details of leisurely adventure in Singakawang will be in the next blog. Will show some pictures on sun mass - " All Saints Day "
