Tenom and Brunei

TENOM. From Semporna, we drove for some 10 hours to rty and reach Brunei. However by about 6pm, we only managed to reach Tenom, a town 2 hrs away from Temburong. Our drive was however challenging as we try another route which avoided Mt Kota Kinabalu. The old route that we took was under repair . We suspect that this was the original route to KK . It was scenic as the route takes us around the contour of the mountain range

At Tenom, we managed to checked into Perkasa, the sister hotel where we last stayed on Mt KK. This hotel was hoever very run down but for RM$90, we couldn't ask for more. The interesting part after a long drive paid off when we found the local " Che Char ". With burning flame, the dishes prepared was really good and authentic, and it was really affordable at RM $38 for 4 dishes and 2 beers. As we stroll along , we decided to test our skill at the local billard salon. For RM$2 per game, we battled out our long lost skill, with only the poor conditioned table to blame. Neo Chian pip the all time Engr's champion by one point to end our evening for a restful night.
Next morning we pushed off to Temburong, planning to visit the Ulu Ulu Resort in the jungle fringe of Brunei. We broke for lunch at Bangar, Temburong . Ah Hoi turn up to have a chat, and he informed us that if we wish to visit Ulu Ulu Resort, we had to do so at 8am , get in and get out by 3pm.
With input from Ah Hoi, our plans to stay at Brunei for a night was changed. We decided to push on towards Miri. With a short break at Empire Hotel, Han Tiong came and had afternoon tea. While we relate to him on our last 8 days venture, Han Tiong gave us further advise on Miri. We then went for a short tour of Seria and Kuala Belait before proceeding to Miri. Entry out of Brunei and into Miri, Sarawak was smooth and easy. The next blog will cover Miri Town.
