Miri Town. With population of about 300,000, the town was well developed and look organised. Initial impression was a result of the very clean and orderly traffic, hotels that looks impressive and amenties and shopping centres are easily located. We stayed at Royal Palace Hotel . At RM $198 including 2 breakfast, with steam and sauna bath and a swimming pool with gym facilities, the services wee good. Hotel also caters for Western and Oriental dinings. Highly recommended

Miri - Sun Morning Coffee at their "kopi tiam " where all the Ah Peh goes for their chatter. They indulge in their morning coffee and tea with a large variety of foods and many are gathered in small groupings to challenge their skills on Chinese and English Chess

These 2 pictures of Miri Tourism centre with a very helpful staff on a sun morning. We gathered much info on Mulu cave and Bario. Mulu cave which is world reknown sounds interesting but would require 3 to 4 days to make the trip worthwhile. Bario a laidback village famous for their RICE and longhouse was somewhat interesting. We decided to visit this place , which is 45mins by air. To ensure that we could do it on time we visited the airport, booked the flight for the following day.

DayakMarket. This was an interesting market where the tribes are seen selling their products. Indigenous food and the uniqueness like the Kueh Tepak casing can be seen in abundance. The extremely small casing are meant for prayers by the Ibans and rice grains are used to fill them up. They are then used for prayers.
