DENUM VALLEY Field Centre. The earlier blog highlights the benefit one will enjoy if you're adventurous enough. Treking into Denum Valley is going ino the oldest remaining rainforest in the world. To reach the centre, you must first drive thru a 70km loggers track. Filled with granite but fairly well paved, a 4 wheel drive would be necessary.

It's a tough enduring drive over 3 hours due to the conditions of the track. To make it more challenging, another 10km of " Rocky Mountain Track " awaits you. Especially when we were approaching our centre during sunset. Along and on tracks which few would engaged in, we were somewhat hesistant as to whether we are on the right track. Fortunately we met another team on their way out. Upon arrival , the large centre with proper accomodations, including research centres was a pleasant welcome.

We were told that we'll be going elephant hunting in the evening. However we were very lucky as a family of 8 elephants were having a evening stroll. Just like human, the largerst elephant would ensure that all the youngs are safely urshered into the jungle before he / she follows suit. on the way, logging trucks carrying logs about 60ft long were seen transporting them . The empty trucks will return with 8 out of 16 wheels folded onto the deck

The denum Valley Field Centre and the Susoension Bridge that spans a 150 m river with current going at 1.5m/sec.
In the evening we went for a " Night Safari " to try and spot Flying squirrels, Chivet Cats, Samba Deer, Owls , Elephants and other wildlife. Yet nother experience as the Ranger using a powerful torch to source for his prey. We managed to locate Samba deers , a black squirrel and a Chivet cat which was some 15m above ground.
